📚 Brisas Read-a-Thon
Ride the Wave. Lead the Way.
Our Brisas Read-a-Thon is officially here! From August 18–28, we’re challenging our students to read, compete, and come together as a school community—all while raising funds to support the experiences that make Brisas special.
🌊 Our School Goal: 80,000 Minutes!
Our goal is for Brisas students to collectively read 80,000 minutes. If we reach our goal, all students will earn an extra recess!
Reading can happen anywhere and in many different ways. Books, comics, magazines, newspapers, reading to someone, being read to, and audiobooks while following along all count. Text reminders to log reading minutes will be sent each night during the Read-a-Thon.

🏆 Class Competition
Classes will compete for daily recognition for reading the most minutes, and students will work together toward schoolwide fundraising milestones:
- 🌊 Ripple — $500
- 🌊 Swell — $1,000
- 🌊 Big Kahuna — $1,500
🏆 Class Prize: The top fundraising class will earn a trip to Skateland!
🎉 Individual Student Prizes
The more students raise, the more they can earn!
$10 — Culver's Ice Cream
$25 — Papa Murphy's Pizza & Cookie Dough
$50 — First 50 students: 1 hour of play at Dave & Buster's + all students entered into a raffle for 4 Slick City tickets
$75 — Donut & story time with Mrs. Winkelmann + raffle for bowling for up to 5 at AMF and batting cage passes
$150 — Admission to the Mad Science Show + raffle for 4 OdySea Aquarium passes and 4 Pangaea Land of the Dinosaurs passes
$225 — Field trip to see a movie at Pollack Theatres + raffle for Bearizona and Great Wolf Lodge Water Park passes
💜 Why Your Support Matters
The Read-a-Thon is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and funds raised go directly back into our school to help offset the costs of:
- Classroom resources and supplies
- Student clubs and field trips
- Special school events
- Before- and after-school programs
- AVID school culture
- Teacher and staff appreciation
- Community-building experiences and activities
We know every family's circumstances are different, and there is absolutely no pressure to give. If you're able to ask friends and family to support your child, even a few dollars can make a difference. When our Brisas families give a little, it adds up to something BIG!
